Out In The Wild

For a great day out visit Turbary Woods – a rescue and rehabilitation centre offering a unique collection of over 50 birds of prey including eagles, hawks, falcons, owls, vultures and more unusual species.

All the birds are housed in large open fronted aviaries, sheltered in a woodland setting. You can experience first hand the breathtaking flight of a falcon.

Hawks, owls, and other varieties are flown regularly at the sanctuary and you can also gain hands on experience and knowledge about these fascinating birds.

Based at Whitestake, Lostock Hall near Preston, Turbary Woods Owl and Bird of Prey Sanctuary is a purely volunteer-based, non-profit making organisation. All money raised from the outside displays and shows keeps the sanctuary open, so visitors are directly helping in the rescue and conservation of the birds. The sanctuary also raises funds through educational talks.

Visitors can see over 50 different birds and a flying display at the weekends around 1pm. Easy to get to, Turbary Woods is a great destination for a family day out.
