Owl & Bird of Prey Sanctuary

Turbary Woods Rescue and rehabilitation center offers a unique collection of over 90 birds of prey including eagles, hawks, falcons, owls, vultures and more unusual species.

All the birds are housed in large open fronted aviaries, sheltered in a woodland setting. You can experience first hand the breathtaking flight of a falcon.

Hawks, owls, and other varieties are flown here at the sanctuary. You can also gain hands on experience and knowledge about these fasinating birds.


Turbary Woods, Owl and Bird of Prey Sanctuary is based in Bamber Bridge, near Preston Lancashire in the North West.

Owl & Hawk Experience Day
At Turbary Woods we offer an experience you will never forget.
Do you want to get a little closer and hands on with our birds?

The course we offer is not simply a falconry lesson or display where we talk to you for a while.
This is a unique experience that will enable you to fly up to 4 different species from our collection which includes flying hawks, owls, buzzards and if you're really brave and strong our very own vulture.

It also includes the basics beginner information that all falconers will need to learn.
Gift vouchers are available for £60, this is for approximately a 2 & half hour course. If you wish to bring a spectator it will cost only £10 extra. We also offer a paired course when you can come as a couple and both share this breathtaking day, priced at £100 and will last 3 hours.

Owl & Hawk Experience Day

The Experience course can be booked in advanced and we will always take payment on the day if need be.

A great present for a loved one or perhaps you deserve to treat yourself! There is nothing quite like the feeling of pleasure when a bird of prey flies to your glove for the first time.
